Job purpose :

Duties and responsibilities :
- Be knowledgeable of the MS State Board of Education Policy Part 3 Chapter 41 Rule 41.1 Intervention on the Three-Tier Instructional Model and the Response to Intervention guidelines
- Have a deep understanding of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and be able to provide guidance and support to schools on the process
- Consult with each principal and identify Teacher Support Team (TST) membership and process currently being implemented at each local school
- As the District TST Chairperson you will identify students populated by MSIS and refer them to the school TST for the intervention process within the first 20 days of the school year
- Provide training when requested to local school TST regarding ways to improve instructional strategies for students who may have failed previously or who are currently not making adequate progress
- Establish procedures for sharing resources, strategies, and / or interventions with local school TST
- Attend at least one Teacher Support Team meeting at each school within RCSD and review TST data
- Coordinate and assist in the implementation of universal screening three times per year
- Review Good Cause Exemption data for students and establish a procedure for schools to turn in good cause exemption information each school year
- Identify appropriate strategies / interventions that are designed to address skill deficit areas, research-based, and implemented and supported by data
- Oversee the MSIS Intervention Screen for the District
- Offer and conduct summer training for teachers regarding differentiated instructional strategies
- Provide or assist in intervention training for teachers at local school
- Monitor school interventionists to ensure integrity and fidelity of interventions, schedule development, progress monitoring, and adherence to state policies.
- Purchase materials, software, programs, and supplies needed to support the intervention implementation for all K-12 schools
- Conduct ongoing meetings with interventionists and principals to review data and student intervention schedules
- Maintain a high degree of professionalism to ensure and protect the confidentiality of each student receiving services within the RCSD
- Mediate parent concerns / complaints within the local schools in an effort to clarify district policies and procedures
- Lead and attend staff meetings / trainings as applicable; serve on staff committees
- Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development, keeping current with literature, new research findings, attending appropriate professional meetings and conferences, and maintaining any credits and / or continued education for maintenance of licensure / qualifications required for the position
- Maintain and accept responsibility for any district-owned fixed asset item assigned to the employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use
- Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
- Regular, dependable, in-person, and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position
- Perform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policy
- Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other district, state and federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by RCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct
