Job purpose :
In keeping a tradition of excellence, the Dyslexia Interventionist / Teacher will support students by providing dyslexia intervention to identified students with dyslexia.
Duties and responsibilities :
- Apply knowledge of federal, state, and district procedures concerning dyslexia for general and special education
- Instruct and evaluate students with dyslexia in any phase of the program
- Provide leadership to teachers in English / Language Arts and Reading Instruction
- Assist teachers in utilizing effective reading practices within the classroom setting
- Provide instructional support and / or direct instruction for students with dyslexia
- Provide general education students, special education students, and students with a 504 with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth
- Develop or modify curriculum and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels
- Lead and attend staff meetings / trainings as applicable; serve on staff committees
- Maintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use
- Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
- Maintain confidentiality
- Regular, dependable attendance is an essential function of this position
- Perform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policy
- Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other District, State and Federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by RCSD and the Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct
