Summary
Provide project leadership during different phases of project (Automation and paper converting equipment) from proposal to execution. Project phases include design, development, improvement, proposal, track parts through SAT (Start-up and commissioning). Plan, budget, oversee, and document all aspects of the assigned project. Work cross functionally regarding allocation of resources, timeliness of deliverables, and coordination of project schedules and timelines. Will have direct reports in future.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage domestic and global projects ranging in budgetary size from $10k to $1MM.
- Prepare project plans, facilitate project review meetings, and coordinate activities of cross-functional resources (Product Management, Sale, finance, Quality, Purchasing, and Assembly to ensure product quality and the timely execution to meet project milestones.).
- Coordinate testing, validation, and Stage-Gate project deliverables within the engineering team.
- Facilitate engineering actions that ensure compliance with governing bodies (e.g. UL, CE, CSA).
- Provide project and product field support (travel to field site) as required
- Must be able to work on multiple projects with all levels of employees.
- Work as individual contributor (perform engineering tasks) as required
- Lead internal continuous improvement projects.
- Lead engineering staff in using sound principles, theories, and concepts in analyzing complex problems.
- Stay updated on new engineering technologies to enhance and improve products.
- Coach engineering project staff in applying new and creative approaches to projects and problems.
- Ensuring the projects meet standards set by Ranpak and the customer.
- Providing direction and guidance to direct and indirect members.
- Prepare necessary project documentation (schedule, correspondence, meeting minutes, etc.).
- Drive process to address gaps, remove roadblocks and assist project team members to meet project goals
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from four-year college or university.
- Prefer PMP certificate.
- Must have engineering project leadership experience.
- At least six years of proven experience leading complex projects with multiple parties and global teams.
- At least six years of design and/or automation experience.
- ERP System experience preferred.
- Proven results in crisis management and decision making.
- Experience managing direct reports (4-6 members) preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, a demonstrated accountability, and good time management is necessary.
- Proven ability to create and give presentations.
- Willing to travel up to 20% of the time.
