Ransom Everglades is seeking a full-time Drama Teacher to join our Performing Arts faculty, who will be responsible for teaching Drama and Acting courses in both Middle School (MS) and Upper School (US). The teacher may also be asked to teach additional courses based on their expertise. This position supports our mission of promoting lifelong learning in a diverse, values-based community, focusing on inquiry-based, student-centered education, global perspectives, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The ideal candidate will demonstrate reliability, strong collaboration skills, and excellent attendance.
Essential Duties Responsibilities
- Teach five drama or acting courses per academic year.
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons for grades 6-12, adapting instruction to meet various learning styles.
- Create and assess assignments such as quizzes, tests, projects, and exams to evaluate student progress.
- Provide constructive, individualized feedback and offer additional support to students during office hours.
- Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment conducive to student engagement and respect for learning.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational best practices.
- Communicate regularly with parents about student progress through conferences and reports.
- Collaborate with faculty, especially within the Performing Arts department, to share resources and strategies.
- Participate in section, department, and all-school meetings, as well as school-wide initiatives and professional development sessions.
- Serve as an academic advisor and engage in school activities and events, supporting the overall school community.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (BFA), Arts (BA), or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience teaching Middle and Upper School students, with independent school teaching experience strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Familiarity with technology integration in education is highly desirable.
