Summary
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of all district buildings and grounds. This position ensures that all facilities are maintained in optimal condition to support the district's educational mission. The Facilities Manager will oversee custodial and maintenance staff, implement preventative maintenance programs, and coordinate repair and improvement projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Building and Grounds Maintenance
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of district buildings, grounds, and mechanical systems.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and safety regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections and schedule preventive maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year facilities maintenance plan.
- Manage groundskeeping tasks including mowing, landscaping, snow removal, and general upkeep.
Supervision and Personnel Management
- Direct and supervise maintenance, custodial, and grounds staff.
- Assign tasks and ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Provide training and support to facilities staff on best practices, safety procedures, and new equipment.
- Evaluate staff performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ADA, and other safety regulations.
- Monitor and manage the district’s asbestos, pest control, and hazardous materials programs.
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheet records.
- Develop emergency response protocols related to facilities and building security.
- Conduct safety inspections and address hazards promptly.
Project and Budget Management
- Assist in developing and managing the facilities budget.
- Coordinate repairs, renovations, and capital improvement projects.
- Work with vendors and contractors to secure bids and oversee contracted work.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and costs incurred.
Inventory and Equipment Management
- Manage inventory of maintenance supplies, custodial products, and equipment.
- Ensure district vehicles and maintenance equipment are serviced and operational.
- Recommend the purchase of tools, machinery, and materials to improve efficiency.
Communication and Coordination
- Serve as a liaison between the facilities department and school administration.
- Respond to maintenance requests from district staff in a timely and efficient manner.
- Communicate with local government agencies regarding building permits and inspections.
- Prepare reports for the Board of Education on facility operations and needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in building maintenance, HVAC, or related fields preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, construction, or related work.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry.
- Experience supervising custodial and maintenance staff.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in using maintenance software, work order systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and be on-call as needed.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Salary and Benefits:
- Anticipated starting salary range: $60,000 - $85,000
