What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pediatric Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner position at Rapha Centre?
JOB SUMMARY
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will provide clinical services to a population of outpatient adults, children and adolescents as a synergistic member of the overall team while adhering to the policies and procedures of the center. The PMHNP will be responsible for educational and administrative services as required.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The PMHNP will report directly to the Medical Staff Coordinator of the center where assigned and will work closely with and other staff for direction in areas of specialty.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Intake and assessment of new patients.
- Request necessary history and treatment plans from outside providers when indicated.
- Create a Plan of Care/Treatment Plan for new patients.
- Direct patient care including medical assessments and follow-ups.
- Manage an appropriate caseload including paperwork.
- Prescribing appropriate medications as indicated by intake/assessment.
- Work collaboratively with team members to diagnose, manage and evolve patient care.
- Work collaboratively with outside providers to both make and receive referrals.
- Identify patient needs requiring medical management in addition to PMH needs, i.e., dual diagnoses.
- Refer patients internally for individual and/or group therapy.
- Ordering and analysis of appropriate laboratory tests, when indicated.
- Organize and maintain personal work area.
- Facilitate educational groups.
- Travel to assigned sites.
- Maintain confidentiality.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Consultation with Medical and Clinic Directors and/or counselors.
- Schedule appointments when needed.
- Respond to phone calls when needed.
- Attend staff meetings.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduate degree for PMHNP required. A minimum of one-year medical care experience in alcohol and drug addictions/rehabilitation programs or experience in an agency or mental health area providing substance abuse services required. Expertise in intake assessment of new patients with addictions issues is a plus.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Must be a licensed Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive rights in the state of Tennessee and must have a valid driver's license.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must submit to pre-employment and random drug testing.
Must have knowledge of the 12 Step Program.
Working hours 8:00am – 5:00pm
