Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Fire Alarm Designer to join our team. This full-time role offers competitive pay and an excellent benefits package. Responsibilities:
- Design fire alarm systems, including layouts, device placement, and wiring schematics, in accordance with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) standards and local building codes.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, and project managers to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Review blueprints and specifications to create efficient system designs.
- Develop detailed submittals, including system specifications, shop drawings, and calculations.
- Conduct site assessments to validate design accuracy and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Coordinate with installation teams to ensure proper implementation of approved designs.
- Perform system testing and troubleshooting to verify functionality and performance.
- Provide technical support and expertise to customers, project managers, and teams.
- Stay updated on fire safety codes, standards, and emerging technologies in fire alarm systems.
Education and Qualifications:
- NICET Level III certification in Fire Alarm Systems (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 10 years of experience with electrical installation and service of fire alarm systems in commercial settings.
- Proficiency with fire alarm design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and ability to perform load calculations and voltage drop analysis.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 72, local building codes, and fire alarm standards.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50-70 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and handle tools and equipment.
