Job Summary
RapidFire Safety & Security is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fire Alarm Estimator to join our growing team. The Sales Estimator is responsible for preparing parts lists and cost estimates for the installation of Code Compliant Fire Alarm Systems. The Estimator will be responsible for designing fire alarm systems for our field representatives and Inside Sales Reps for presentation to commercial customers. This role requires a strong understanding of NFPA codes, local regulations, and construction practices, with a focus on leveraging CAD software for efficient and accurate designs. The ability to design electronic detection, video, and access control and fire alarm systems is also a plus. This position will analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product and or service.
Responsibilities
- Cost Estimates, FIRE: Prepare parts lists, labor and cost estimates for installation of code compliant Fire Alarm Systems electronic detection, video, access control and fire alarm systems for retrofit and new construction projects or services for field sales reps and inside sales reps.
- Cost Estimates and Technical Support, SECURITY: Prepare parts lists, labor and cost estimates for installation of electronic detection, video, and access control systems for retrofit and new construction projects or services for field sales reps and inside sales reps. Also, you will provide technical and vendor relations support for these sales people.
- Analyze Plans: Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Review Customers requests on products and materials to understand project or opportunity bid.
- Submittal Packages: Upon sale of the system, you will prepare detailed drawings, cut sheets and material lists using CAD, software for the reps to deliver to the AHJs for approval. You will also resolve any issues from the AHJ for changes.
- Product Knowledge: A full understanding of RapidFire recommended products and what can be utilized to solve Customers requests. You will also stay up to date on codes in our markets that impact design.
- Customer Relationships: Consult with field and inside sales reps primarily, and occasionally, clients, vendors, and other departments, as well as RapidFire Operations personnel to discuss and resolve issues.
- Estimates: Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors and or subcontractors.
- Collaboration: Partner with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Customer Service - Review and process project change requests, acting as liaison between clients and the contractors regarding cost maintenance and changes.
- Additional Services: Make customers aware of additional services available to them. Support Branch Sales Team as needed.
Knowledge, Skill & Other Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma. Relevant certifications or coursework in contract management is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in system estimating, client relations, or a related field.
- Experience with Inside sales is a plus.
Skills:
- Excellent Math / Computation skills.
- Excellent customer service skills including phone correspondence, and in-person.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and security design principles and vendor relations.
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong computer skills (company proposal software, Adobe, Smart Draw and Microsoft Office tools)
- Proficiency in CAD
