Job Description:
We are a small, Arvada, CO-based directional drilling company seeking experienced Directional Drill Operators and Locators to join our Directional Plow Crew for a project in Gillette, Wyoming. This is a seasonal position with an excellent work-life balance, offering a 14-days-on/5-days-off rotation schedule.
We are hiring immediately, as the project begins on April 7th, 2025.
As a Directional Drill Operator/Locator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of directional drilling equipment, locating utilities, and ensuring accurate bore paths for underground utility installations.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain directional drilling equipment to install underground utilities.
- Perform utility locates and read prints/maps to ensure safe drilling operations.
- Monitor bore paths and adjust as needed to avoid underground obstacles.
- Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure all work meets industry safety standards and company guidelines.
- Work closely with the crew leader and laborers to complete tasks efficiently.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on drilling equipment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience operating a directional drill and/or working as a locator.
- Familiarity with Vermeer or Ditch Witch drilling equipment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret utility maps and locate prints.
- Strong knowledge of underground utility construction and safety procedures.
- Physically capable of performing labor-intensive tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Reliable and punctual with strong teamwork skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work yard
