What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Maintenance Technician position at Rappahannock Area Community Services Board?
OVERVIEW
Performs and helps coordinate contracted building maintenance and repair work including janitorial, minor electric, plumbing, painting and dry wall repair, carpentry, and landscaping on agency operated buildings and grounds. Work is performed under regular administrative supervision and is guided by agency policies and procedures, building trade practices and specific maintenance, installation and repair manuals when available.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs building and fixture repairs and / or replacements of, d rywall, windows, doors, locks, toilets, plumbing leaks. water heaters, electrical outlets and switches, vent fans, florescent light ballasts, etc.
- Preps and paints residential and administrative offices spaces.
- Installs or replaces shelves, cabinets, laptop lockdowns, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, stoves, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers.
- Builds picnic tables and shelving units.
- Detail cleans residential spaces and cleans carpet
- Cleans gutters, pressure washes facilities and sidewalks.
- Mows lawns, weeds flower beds and sidewalks, trims bushes, rakes leaves, shovels snow. Deices sidewalks, driveways, porches
- Maintains equipment such as pressure washer, carpet vac, push mower, maintenance truck, power tools, hand tools, etc.
- Schedules and executes routine maintenance of facilities.
- Collects and hauls trash, Moves furniture, office equipment, files, etc.
- Does related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of the installation, repair and maintenance practices, tools, and materials used in the skilled trades including carpentry, painting, drywall, plumbing, janitorial, electrical and horticultural maintenance; ability to perform a variety of skilled repair and general maintenance tasks; ability to work from heights and on ladders and scaffolding and perform heavy manual labor; ability to prepare and maintain routine records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency staff and external contractors, ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to operate a vehicle.
TYPICAL EDUCATION, TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and extensive experience in common building trades work.
LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Valid Virginia Driver's License.
