Assistant Child Care Manager - Caroline Family YMCA

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA childcare program(s).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.    Supervises the school age child care programs for assigned location(s). Ensures high quality programs.

2.    Supports YMCA healthy eating and physical activities standards through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality

3.    Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.

4.    Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.

5.    Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

6.    Reports all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner to Child Care Manager.

7.    Maintains proper records/department files.

8.    Attends staff meetings and trainings.

9.    Assists in special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.

10.  Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.

11.  Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·       Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent. Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state licensing requirements of program director.

·       One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of child care programs.

·       Three years of programmatic experience in a group care for children.

·       Must be at least 21 years old.

·       Within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; State Licensing Training Requirements; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.

·       Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

·       Completes Praesidium within 7 days of hire date.

·       Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

·       Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.

·       Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

·       Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.

·       Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.

·       Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.

·       Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.

·       Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.

·       Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency

·       Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
