What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Attendant position at Rappahannock Area YMCA?
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Responsible for the upkeep and repair of the facilities associated with the operations at the YMCA Branch. Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, responds to guest and staff needs by performing a variety of tasks related to all aspects of repair and maintenance to existing facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment.
- May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, and vacuuming.
- Replaces soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other supplies.
- Performs maintenance and repair projects as assigned.
- May set up furniture for events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 16 years of age (The age minimum may be higher depending on YMCA policies.)
- Six months or more of related experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
- Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
- Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.
- Must complete Praesidium within 7 days of hire date.
