What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inmate Records File Clerk position at Rappahannock Regional Jail?
The Rappahannock Regional Jail is seeking a Part-Time Inmate Records File Clerk to perform administrative support and intermediate skilled administrative support work reviewing, verifying, and entering inmate data, correcting and updating historical information, and related work as apparent or assigned.
This position is Part-Time NO BENEFITS OFFERED. Starting Salary: $18.3891 per hour. Works 29 hours per week.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to:
- Reviews court sentencing orders for accuracy and verifies legal update records; contacts courts for corrections and receives amended documentation.
- Prepares time computations for inmate sentences and schedules release dates; prepares time credits and adjusts sentence dates; forwards supporting documentation to the State Department of Corrections.
- Schedules and conducts video arraignments for various regional courts including non-local jurisdictions.
- Prepares inmate transfer and release lists; coordinates scheduled inmate transfers with other jail facilities.
- Creates, compiles, and updates data for new intakes; verifies accuracy and maintains inmate historical files and data.
- Answers request forms, responds to letters from current and past inmates, and provides copies of documents requested such as warrants, proof of incarcerations letters, and legal updates.
- Schedules and conducts the video arraignment process; attends hearings and notates the proceeding.
- Prepares and schedules the transportation list; checks court dockets to confirm inmates that are scheduled to appear in court for the following day.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED and minimal experience in record keeping, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Applicant must pass a criminal background, Drug Test, DMV check and polygraph examination.
