We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Ophthalmology Technician to join our team at Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists in Williston, Vermont. As part of our dynamic environment, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to pet patients and their loved ones.
Job Summary
- Provide high-quality patient care, including physical assessments, medical record-keeping, and assisting doctors with procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in accordance with hospital policy.
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms and treatment areas to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with all procedures, including prepping and assisting in surgery.
- Perform physical assessments and record observations.
- Keep furry friends calm and still during procedures.
- Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients.
- Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions.
- Stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms, and inform inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered.
- Assist the veterinarian in medical specialty procedures, including blood draws, preparing patients for surgery, administering anesthesia, monitoring patients during surgery and recovery, and administering fluids.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) preferred but not required.
- Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
- Minimum of one year of technician experience, plus confidence with nursing and anesthesia skills.
- Prior emergency and critical care/specialty experience preferred; pursuit of CVT and/or VTS encouraged and financially supported for full-time employees.
