Fiberglass/Paint/Gelcoat Technician
Raritan Marina in Laurence Harbor, NJ is a full-service boatyard, marina, and new boat dealership. Due to recent growth and expansion, we are seeking an experienced fiberglass/paint/gelcoat technician to work full time in our brand-new state of the art service building.

Job Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Identify defects including cracks, blisters, stress fractures and cosmetic flaws
- Estimate repair times, plan for materials, coordinate jobs with management
- Grid out defective areas, smooth rough edges/areas by using appropriate power or hand-tools
- Prep fiberglass, resins, and damaged areas for repair
- Shape and smooth edges to match contour properly
- Mix gelcoat catalyst and spray or brush repaired surfaces; match colors
- Spray paints and gelcoats for Bristol Finishes
- Buff and polish repaired surfaces
- Some weekend work may be required as customer service needs fluctuate
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Vocational/Technical school highly preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in marine fiberglass layup and repairs
- Knowledge of and adhesion to ABYC guidelines
- Experience in Awlgrip and other paint products application and repair
- Knowledge of and proven ability to repair gelcoat and gelcoat color matching
- Knowledge of advanced composites and manufacturing/repair process
- Ability to effectively communicate the diagnosis and plan of action for maintenance/repairs
- Customer focused, acting with integrity and reliability
- Must be able to stand, kneel, and crawl while operating equipment and tools
- Problem solving ability willingness to tackle any project
- Ability to work autonomously/independently
- Must have a valid driver’s license, and eligible to drive company vehicles
- Marine Industry Certification is a plus
