Part-Time Student, Aide - Childrens Campus - Raritan Valley Community College

Job Description

Raritan Valley Community College seeks Part-Time Student Aides for our Children's Campus.

Working with a Head or Group Teacher, the Student Aide is responsible for assisting with the safety and well-being of the children in an assigned classroom. The Student Aide also is responsible for insuring that all State licensing standards are met, and College policy and practice is followed.

Duties & Responsibilities

Assisting with supervising, engaging and interacting with children during classroom routines and activity periods.

Following the direction of the head or group teacher, while interacting with children using positive disciplinary practices and developmentally appropriate early childhood practices.

Meeting staff: child ratios at all times, being aware of daily attendance of children and adults during a work shift.

Working to keep the Children's Campus classrooms clean and neat, equipment sanitized and disinfected, supplies replenished and properly stored each day.

Taking the initiative to know every child, treating each one with respect and encouragement.

Focusing on all of the children in the assigned classroom, while working with small groups or individuals as directed by the head or group teacher.

Presenting a positive and cheerful demeanor, while leaving home and school problems "outside the school door".

Requirements

Enrolled in ECE, Education, Social Work or Psychology program.

CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain desirable. Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills required.

Timely completion of all college and state paperwork required for hiring.

Hours that match the scheduling needs of The Children's Campus for the present semester, with availability for three or more days each week.
