The Transfer Specialist works in a team environment, spending 60% of their time processing incoming official transcripts from other institutions and 35% of the time, providing accurate transfer of credit assessments and posting accepted transfer credits to students' records. 5% of their time may be spent on related tasks that may arise. The Transfer Specialist will physically go into the central office 1-3 times per week to process incoming official paper transcripts and manage the retention of paper transcripts. They understand how decisions related to incoming official transcripts and transfer of credit assessments impact the student, their experience, and the University. The Transfer Specialist possesses strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills and consistently makes decisions and recommendations based on data and prior experiences. This role assists with projects for the Office of Central Transfer, oftentimes given short notice and with quick turnaround requirements, and is an additional resource for the team. In performing the duties of this role, the Transfer Specialist will follow the University's policies and procedures, keeping abreast of institutional, governmental and accreditation policies and regulations, and strictly adhering to and complying with all codes of conduct.
Responsibilities :
1. Receives and verifies incoming official transcripts and uploads to student academic records for review. (60%)
- Retrieves official transcripts sent electronically from third-party transcript vendors, verifies validity of official transcripts, affixes Rasmussen's custom official transcript stamp, and completes the stamp by filling out the appropriate information.
- Manages the shared Transcripts inbox, downloading transcripts, answering campus and student questions related to official transcripts sent by other institutions, and forwarding received emails to other departments as needed.
- The position holder will need to physically go to the central office 1-3 times a week (depending on the time of the quarter) to process official paper transcripts received in the mail and manage the retention of these transcripts.
- Matches transcript to student based on the Student Information System (SIS) by verifying transcript includes two pieces of matching data, records Student ID on transcripts that are matched or N / A for transcripts not matched to a particular student.
- Uploads transcripts to student's academic records or the two shared Unknown Transcripts sites and retains copies in shared Central Transfer drive.
- When transcripts are uploaded to the SIS, determines the appropriate next step for each transcript, which is to either initiate a transfer review request an upcoming start date and program in the SIS is available or notifies campus of the receipt of a transcript when the program and start date are not known.
- Performs a weekly audit of activities in the SIS related to transcripts received by other institutions to ensure all received official transcripts have either been submitted for assessment or set to No Longer Needed when a student is no longer applying or enrolled.
- Records count of weekly processed incoming transcripts from other institutions for reporting purposes.
2. Provides transfer of credit reviews for new and returning students for assigned programs (30%).
3. Posts transfer of credit in Student Information System (SIS) for new and returning students for select programs. (5%)
4. Performs other related duties and tasks as directed. (5%)
Reporting Relationships :
The Transfer Specialist directly reports to the Manager of Central Transfer, who in turn reports to the Director, Central Student Operations-Transfer. This role has no direct reports.

Our defined compensation structure is market competitive and is built to reward performance. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role is $41,700 to $54,200. We take a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including but not limited to : job and level hired into, location, skill set; experience and training; peer compensation and other business and organizational needs. This range is subject to change.
