Assistant Controller

Essential Responsibilities:

• Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
• Prepare and consolidate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP.
• Oversee the general ledger, ensuring proper recording and classification of transactions.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential issues, providing insights to management.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks.
• Assist in the budget process, preparing forecasts, and monitoring variances.
• Coordinate and execute the month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Collaborate with external auditors, preparing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulations. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred 
• 3 years at a fast-paced, ever-changing company
• 3-5 years analyzing & tracking budget expenses, developing budgets
• 2 years experience managing a team of 2 or more
• Performance management experience
• Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess interpersonal and facilitation skills.
• Strong Microsoft Office and Windows based computer applications skills.
• Fishing or Outdoor Industry experience preferred.
