The Field Service Technician is a remote/home-based position required to travel within the Los Angeles area. Primary responsibility of this role is to provide customer support and perform installation, troubleshoot service, modification, and repair for the client’s equipment. The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, technical details concerning RATIONAL USA equipment, accessories, consumables, and spare parts to support customers and our business partners is crucial to the success of this position environment.

Summary
The Field Service Technician is a remote/home-based position required to travel within the Los Angeles area. Primary responsibility of this role is to provide customer support and perform installation, troubleshoot service, modification, and repair for the client’s equipment. The ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, technical details concerning RATIONAL USA equipment, accessories, consumables, and spare parts to support customers and our business partners is crucial to the success of this position environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment in the assigned region and surrounding area
- Install, modify and repair RATIONAL equipment
- Requires moving, leveling, and setting of heavy equipment
- Provide clear technical support to customers as well as internal team members
- Must be able to maintain an organized work vehicle and keep all required parts stocked at all times
- Maintain all assigned and calibrated test equipment and tools in good working condition
- Complete service reports, timesheets, expense reports as well as parts reordering forms in a timely manner. Must also be able to complete additional reports as requested.
- Monitor equipment conditions and recommend/sell preventative maintenance programs
- Provide on-call support to customers via scheduled on-call times or as business needs arise
- High School Diploma preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience troubleshooting industrial electric and gas equipment; preferably in the food equipment industry
- Required plumbing knowledge
- Ability to perform piping, soldering and brazing of copper, brass and stainless steel piping
- Able to work in fast-paced environment independently
- Must have clean driving record
- Well-spoken with the ability to exhibit good judgment
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedural manuals
- Ability to write routine reports using computer
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to travel on short notice
- Must be able to work on-call which includes nights, weekends and holidays
