The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of buses and support vehicles to contract requirements. Safety and customer service are the top priorities in this role. The ideal candidate will posses the drive, confidence, and determination to succeed.
Essential Functions:
- Schedules and administers fleet maintenance, assists in troubleshooting problems with equipment. Communicates availability of vehicles for service with dispatch, maintenance manager and/or other operations personnel.
- Repairs and maintains diesel engines and bus equipment.
- Supervises maintenance operations. Plans and distributes the work. Delegates responsibilities as appropriate and monitors performance. Involved in reviewing personnel actions for recommendation to Maintenance Manager for review and disposition.
- Ensures compliance on a day-to-day basis with State, Federal, and Company requirements.
- Works closely with maintenance management providing status of compliance with maintenance requirements. Reviews repair orders, as directed.
- May order fuel for all vehicles and order parts.
- Initiates and implements projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Supervises bus fueling, building and grounds keeping.
- Completes special projects as assigned. Required to perform hands-on work activities.
- Plans and schedules the work within company guidelines.
- Distributes work to technicians and oversees successful accomplishment of tasks.
- 7 years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience
- 10 years mechanical experience repairing and maintaining diesel vehicles & equipment
- ASE certifications applicable to bus maintenance a plus.
- H4 – Brakes
- H6 – Electrical/Electronic Systems
- H8 – Preventive Maintenance & Inspection (PMI)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Technical training preferred
- Possess CDL Operator’s license with passenger and air brake endorsements
- May require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs.
- Good written and oral communication skills

- Be subject to drug testing
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned
Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%
- Sitting: Continuously, up to 2 hours at a time, with a few breaks.
- Standing/Walking: Frequently, when assisting passengers, walking to and from vehicle, and around vehicle for inspections
- Driving: Continuously, up to 1-1/2 hours at a time, with few breaks.
- Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally, up to 25 pounds; must be able to lift 50 pounds if necessary.
- Bending/Squatting/Kneeling: Frequently, when inspecting vehicle and securing wheelchairs.
- Pushing/Pulling/Reaching: Frequently, with maximum force of 5 pounds, while steering vehicle, opening/closing vehicle doors. Frequently, up to 350 pounds when maneuvering wheelchair passenger.
- Twisting: Frequently, at waist and neck when driving and securing wheelchairs.
- Overhead Reaching: Occasionally, when reaching controls and signs.
- Climbing: Frequently, getting in or out of vehicle.
- Handling/Grasping: Frequently, while steering vehicle.
- Talking: Frequently, communicating with passengers and dispatcher.
- Hearing: Continuously, listening for emergency sirens, bus malfunctions, passenger communications, and radio communications.
- Fine Finger Manipulation: Occasionally, when handling change and operating radio vehicle controls.
