Job Summary:
- Provides classroom training for new operators and trainees.
- Leads group discussions based on learning points.
- Completes documentation forms in accordance with State, Federal and local requirements.
- Provides appropriate feedback to new operators.
- Serves as a role model and mentor to new operators.
- Identifies retraining needs.
- Recognizes and reports safe and unsafe acts / conditions to management.
- Provides feedback to the AGM of Safety, GM, OGM of Operations, and other appropriate staff regarding training needs.
- Assists training department in identifying additional or refresher training needs based on current trends.
- Train, evaluate and monitor trainee and probationary bus operators: Conduct classroom training, give performance feedback, and conduct on-board observations when required to ensure compliance.
- Assist in the development of customer service training and refresher training programs, writing training materials, monitoring operator performances, and making recommendations regarding employee training in regard to improving customer service.
- Assess effectiveness of training program and processes. Monitor and report program results. Advocate changes and recommend direction of program to improve performance. Perform support functions in the Training Department, maintain class and performance records. Conduct training at monthly new driver orientation
- Design and implement driver refresher training (annual)
- Assist in the interviewing process for new bus operators applying for employment.
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent with three - five years’ experience in transportation or transit operations, or bus operator background preferred. A valid Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger and Air Brakes Endorsement is required. Safety Training Certifications preferred. Knowledge of adult education principles a plus.

Physical Requirements
Recurring use of hands, fingers, and arms in selecting/grasping paper, telephone, computer, and related items necessary in carrying out “desk” related duties. In terms of physical activity, the position involves sitting at a desk, walking and standing demands. Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling and related weight/force requirements are basically limited in terms of both intensity and duration and when required are characteristically associated with occupations designated as Sedentary in nature. Requires the capacity to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information (talking) and to perceive the nature of oral sounds by ear (hearing).
