Description
The Tax Associate supports the internal and external tax teams. This role is responsible for maintaining tax records and information by collecting, reviewing, and organizing supporting tax data. The Tax Associate will partner with key internal finance and accounting team members and external advisors. This role will report directly to the VP of Accounting, Reporting and Analysis.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists with reviewing of state and federal tax returns to ensure timely and accurate submission.
- Prepare business licenses and other tax filings.
- Assist with collecting, reviewing, and organizing documentation for tax audits.
- Maintain documentation and support records related to tax filings, provisions, and other tax-related activities.
- Handle copying, scanning, mailing, and filing tax documents.
- Perform routine tax accounting tasks, including reconciliations, journal entries, and data analysis.
- Assist with the preparation of quarterly tax estimates and facilitate the remittance of estimated payments.
- Coordinate and provide information for tax audits, inquiries, and notices from tax authorities.
- Research on tax-related issues as needed and communicate findings with the Tax team.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 2-4 years of relevant tax and/or accounting experience
- Associate’s degree in accounting (Preferred)
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments
- Ability to use a computer and possess an understanding of computer software including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work on many different projects at one time
- Ability to work independently and without direct supervision
- Understand the importance of following standardized procedures
- Maintain professional appearance
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Possess an organized and disciplined personality
- A positive attitude who can take direction
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Willingness to "go the extra mile" to achieve division sales goals and objectives
Physical Demands
- Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently and frequently moving small objects.
- Frequently sitting for long periods of time
- Walking or standing occasionally
- This position works mostly indoors going outdoors may be frequently required
- Must have manual use of hands and vision to use computer constantly
