General Maintenance Technician - BP (USA)

Purpose The primary purpose of this role is to provide primary repair and equipment/process project execution throughout the plant.  Ensure that quality, safety, performance, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.  Support and encourage continuous improvement.   Areas of Responsibility / Tasks   General Policy Ensure all equipment, building and plant operations are SAFE and in good working condition. Plan, organize and execute tasks and/or repairs. Implement engineering changes to equipment as necessary. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and execution of installations of new and existing equipment. Work with Contractors, Vendors, OEM Suppliers and Machine Shops as necessary. Coordinate parts orders as needed for repairs and projects. Ensure schedule and delivery of parts and equipment are communicated as needed to eliminate down time. Execute planned downtime routine activities such as grinder blade changes or extruder screw changes. Lead ‘heavy’ repair tasks such as large bearing changes or extruder gearbox changes. Create and track performance data points for equipment when needed. Demonstrate skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines. Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematic diagrams and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments. Lead preventative maintenance tasks and projects on production equipment. Implement capital expenditure projects on-time, on-budget, right the first time and safely. Maintain tools and consumables in good working condition and well organized. Follow all Quality, Safety, and Environmental Procedures. Uphold the Blue Polymer Code of Conduct standards. Support Continuous Improvement efforts as needed. Ensure all work is performed to standards and documented within the CMMS system. Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager.   Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications Education: Must have High School diploma or of equivalent value. Must have completed vocational school Industrial Maintenance program or have two years (minimum) work experience in the field of Industrial Maintenance. Experience: Ability to operate a fork truck and articulate boom. Must possess excellent interpersonal, people management and problem solving skills. Ability to read, speak and write English efficiently preferred. Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented and ability to prioritize. Ability to multi-task. Preferred if skilled in Microsoft Excel and Word.   Competencies; Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA) To perform this role successfully, an individual must have experience achieving desired result(s) in their areas of responsibility. Must be comfortable working in a non-climate controlled environment. Schedules may vary from week to week based on business demands in excess of 40 hours with or without notice. Some projects or repairs may require evening or weekend work to accommodate business needs. All injuries regardless of severity must be reported to your Supervisor/HR immediately. IND1
