What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Technician - BP (USA) position at Ravago Americas?
Objective / Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to utilize various equipment to fulfill customer work order requests and perform inventory counts/movements for warehouse optimization.
Areas of Responsibility / Tasks
Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below.
Inventory Control:
Perform and record material movements to optimize space.
Perform daily counts.
Perform physical inventory and verification of condition of product.
Other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.
Work Order Fulfillment:
Pull and stage product for request fulfillment.
Complete all documentation associated with request fulfillment including but not limited to labels, row charts, tallies, etc.
Assembles and fills boxes/gaylords, supersacks, and valve bags.
Utilize various equipment to perform request fulfillment including but not limited to bag to bag, bag to box, box to bag, box to box, supersack to box, box to supersack, etc.
Assist the Shipping & Receiving department with pull and staging of orders upon request.
Other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor.
Secure palletized load shipments using shrink wrap or protective strapping.
Prepare packaged orders for pickup and delivery according to schedule.
Use hand tools like box cutters, scissors, heat guns for specialized sealing/closing.
Align packaged containers properly on conveyor belts for automatic packing.
Provide training to other packaging technicians or helpers.
Quality Management:
Identify contaminations by visual inspections
Follow all ISO requirements; this includes but is not limited to being held responsible for completion of ‘CAR’ reports and submitting processing information when problem issues occur with damaged product, lost product, or other issues.
Maintain cleanliness standards in packaging area and report any sanitation issues
Participate in continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts.
Operate packaging machinery effectively and maintain it in good condition.
Perform quality checks on packaged items and ensure they meet company standards.
Safety & Health Compliance:
Operate forklift safely and efficiently; conduct equipment inspections at the beginning of each shift.
Report damages and near-miss incidents.
Maintain a clean workspace.
Observe all OSHA and Company safety policies.
Minimum Qualifications / Education / Certifications
Education:
High school diploma – preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of related experience or related skillset:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to round to the nearest whole number.
Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Observes safety and security procedures.
