Purpose
This position will be responsible for assisting as needed in the planning, execution and overall Project Engineering for capital projects, as well as the day-to-day operations, mechanical and process performance of the RMA manufacturing operations.
Areas of Responsibility / Tasks
Performance must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below:
General Policy
Assist with the oversight of expansion and relocation of RMA production operations including equipment layout, process design, equipment specifications and adherence to project schedules and approved budgets.
Represent RMA as needed as “owner’s representative” for plant expansion or new building construction on Capital Projects.
Complete asset tagging of capital projects for tracking and auditing purposes.
Assist or help with the design, specification, purchase and/or upgrade of new and existing process equipment to achieve process Cpk’s of at least 1.33 (making product that consistently meets specifications).
Work with Project Engineer to develop detailed budgets, timelines and performance specifications (customer defined targets, RMA equipment / installation standards, “Capacity Plan System of Record”, etc.) for assigned projects.
Collaborate with RMA Purchasing on Total Value negotiations with equipment and vendors and installation contractors, as well as accountability for service and agreed upon equipment performance.
Maintain capital system financial controls to ensure approved Capex Budgets are not exceeded.
Ensure potential safety issues are identified and managed to minimize risk for our employees.
Finish projects with high level of attention detail including verification of Preventive Maintenance schedules and Tool Boards.
Actively support RMA Plant Continuous Improvement Teams (CIT’s) with focus on achieving measurable manufacturing KPI improvements – especially Job Rate, Yield and Safety.
Works closely with management in potential projects that could affect others so confidentiality is very important in this role.
Responsible for planning, design and execution for capex projects. NO BAD CAPEX success is measured by:
(1) Zero safety issues during project planning and implementation.
(2) Finished project actual spending at-or-below approved Capex budget.
(3) Superior workmanship on equipment build and installation.
(4) Positive performance feedback from our customers (external = direct sales / tolling, and internal = Plant Manager).
Other duties as assigned by the RMA Technology Manager.
Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent work experience.
AutoCAD/3-D drawing interpretation.
Electrical, mechanical and statistical process control education/experience desirable.
Specification package development (mechanical, electrical, etc.) experience required.
Experience:
Demonstrated success in managing and holding accountable 3rd party design, equipment and maintenance vendors.
Must have experience and demonstrated success for completing capital projects on-time, on-budget and safely.
Experienced to analyze data to monitor performance and plan manufacturing improvements.
Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis through use of CAPA’s and 5 Why problem solving.
Must possess excellent interpersonal, people management and problem solving skills.
Lead with a “Sell, Not tell” style and ensure systems are performing using a Management by Walking Around (MBWA) style.
Consistently display highest levels of Code of Conduct leadership behavior.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Detail oriented, attention to accuracy and ability to multi-task and GET A JOB DONE.
Proficient in Microsoft office suite Teams, Excel, Power Point, Word.
