PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for completing assigned functions within the department. This position will be responsible for preparing month end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial analysis and reporting. The Staff Accountant is responsible for completing assigned work in a timely and accurate manner. This position involves tight deadlines and accounting activities including general ledger and year-end audit preparation. This individual must have a basic knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, be organized, a self-starter, ability to work independently and demonstrate the ability to follow through with action plans with oversight from the manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintain and distribute monthly close calendar.
Prepare record standard monthly journal entries as assigned.
Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Maintain subledger details for assigned accounts.
Research account variances and coordinate with Senior Accountants to resolve discrepancies.
Prepare and record top-side elimination entries and adjustments as needed.
Prepare internal/external reporting as required monthly.
Prepare and maintain monthly account reconciliations as assigned.
Prepare various account rollforwards and supporting schedules.
Perform procedures related to physical inventory counts as assigned.
Prepare required governmental surveys as necessary.
Assist with special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum 1 year of experience working in an accounting role within a corporate environment.
Microsoft Office including advanced Excel required.
Ability to work in fast paced and changing environment.
Experience using JD Edwards and Dynamics a plus.
