Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to lead the development of Sustainable Safety & Environmental Systems that will ensure Blue Polymers facilities are in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations, as well as lead the facilities in obtaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks

Blue Polymers must reflect appropriate level of expertise and achievement of the desired results for the items listed below .

  • General Policy
  • Development of strategy, systems, programs and audit schedules, etc. which teach and promote compliance with Safety & Environmental (S&E) regulations leading to the protections of employees, the community and the environment.
  • Provide support to plant management to solve S&E challenges and obtain ISO certifications for Blue Polymers.
  • Provide support to plant management to create a safe work environment.
  • Assist Quality Department and provide certification support at Blue Polymers for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 .
  • Prepare and maintain OSHA 300 Logs for BLUE POLYMERS facilities.
  • Positively and professionally interface with Plant Management, Senior Leadership Team, regulatory agencies, suppliers and local communities on behalf of Blue Polymers.
  • Meet with site S&E teams regularly to insure consistency in the S&E system.
  • Assist sites in determining root cause of near misses, accident and incidents by putting processes and systems in place to prevent recurrence.
  • Lead environmental permitting process and reviews with site EHS teams for air, wastewater, and stormwater.
  • Assist site leaders in preparing, organizing and supporting annual Safety Day’s at BLUE POLYMERS.
  • Develop and support programs that promote S&E compliance as well as support a zero recordable goal.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and processes as related to S&E systems.
  • Follow all quality, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Uphold the Blue Polymers Code of Conduct standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Operations.

Minimum Qualifications/ Education / Experience / Certifications

  • Education:
  • High school education or equivalent preferred, Associate or Bachelor’s degree a plus.
  • Three (3) plus years of demonstrated EHS
  • Experience:
  • Knowledge of S&E regulations and practical application, as well as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the engineered plastic resin and/or injection molding and the Blue Polymers business is also preferred.
  • Self-managed professional with a “Sell not Tell” management philosophy.
  • Good negotiator who is persuasive in presenting ideas.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, people management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage direct and indirect reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership skills that can be displayed in a complex environment
  • Ability to manage time, organize, and set priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Approximately 35% travel may be required.

  • All injuries regardless of severity must be reported to your Supervisor/HR immediately.
