Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the I.T Director, the PC Technician performs duties related to PC maintenance and repair, tape backup/recovery operations, and record keeping functions for the Information Technology Department.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· None
Travel Required:
· Travel between Ravalli County buildings is required.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Evaluates, troubleshoots and repairs personal computers, laptops, printers, scanners and other peripheral computer equipment.
· Loads and troubleshoots computer operating systems on computers.
· Coordinates with other vendors to resolve problems if necessary.
· Installs, moves and replaces personal computers, printers and other peripheral equipment.
· Performs basic trouble shooting on network cabling and wiring.
· Orders spare parts as required and keeps track of equipment that is shipped for repair.
· Adds, updates and deletes assets from the fixed asset database.
· Performs routing Help Desk operations, including assisting users with equipment, software and application questions and problems.
· Maintains routine backups of county data / restores data when necessary.
· Assisting in presenting to management recommendations related to purchasing and installing hardware, software.
· Develops and writes procedures for installation, use and solving problems of communications hardware and software.
· Instructs users in the use of equipment.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Requires periodic on-call and weekend activity.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical problems.
· Ability to write reports and routine business correspondence.
· Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
· Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
· Ability to interpret a variety of complex instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
· Good typing skills.
· Ability to communicate well in both verbal and written forms to various audiences.
· Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
· Ability to interact constructively with various level staff and in a collaborative “team” setting.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various County departments and other local, state and federal agencies.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
· Considerable knowledge of PC operating systems: Windows 10
· Considerable of PC operations and software (Microsoft Office Pro 2016)
· Considerable knowledge of the utilization, operation and care of computer and related electronic data processing equipment.
· Considerable knowledge of the general principles of computer systems operation, including potential uses and limitations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
· A Certification
· Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field.
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
· Ability to pass an intense law enforcement grade background check.
· Must have a valid Montana Driver’s License.
· Must be physically able to carry out all requirements of the position.

· While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
· Employees in this position perform duties that require very fine dexterity and extreme muscle control, involving various body postures.
· Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
· The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Requires occasional stooping, bending and climbing ladders.
