Hours: 30-40 hours a week | Monday thru Friday

JOB SUMMARY: This position works one-on-one with toddlers and preschoolers in Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms to strengthen their social, emotional, and behavior skills. This position is assigned to multiple classrooms and locations based on the needs of the program.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Participate in team planning and evaluation meetings, as required, to assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of individual behavior support plans.
2. Provide one-on-one supports for children in the Early Head Start/Head Start classroom/s as outlined in individualized behavior support plans.
3. Help develop resources and materials to carry out targeted research & evidence-based prevention and intervention strategies.
4. Meet routinely with classroom & support team to discuss progress and/or necessary adaptations.
5. Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide a safe, positive and inclusive climate for all children.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills with staff, families and consultants.
- Functional use of Microsoft Office Suite – Microsoft 365

SPECIAL AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Essential physical requirements:
- Ability to lift/carry 50 lbs;
- Sufficient mobility and strength to repeatedly stoop, stand, bend, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance, and have a full range of body motion;
- Sufficient vision and hearing to perform job duties;
- Sufficient manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination to perform job duties
- Have clear vision for close tasks such as working with computers, keyboards/screens and paper documents
The position is within child care/education settings and office spaces with computers, printers and light traffic noise levels. Travel is required to multiple program sites.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
This position requires formal training and/or coursework in positive behavioral intervention systems and experience working in classroom settings with young children with behavioral challenges. Education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis.
TRAINING
- Obtain updated training in evidence based positive behavior support models.
- Obtain training in trauma informed programming and issues effecting children’s mental health.
- Obtain knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to child abuse and neglect and abide by reporting standards.
- Attend training in Head Start’s philosophy and developmentally appropriate practices in the classroom.
- Attend any training, workshops and meetings as deemed necessary by the supervisor.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.14 - $19.19 per hour
