What are the responsibilities and job description for the Piano Private Lessons Instructor (Part Time) - 2025-26 position at Ravenscroft School?
Ravenscroft is an independent, coeducational day school in Raleigh, NC, with approximately 1,250 students in grades PreK-12.
Work Hours and Expectations: Part-time, five days per week
Responsibilities and Competencies: The instructor should bring energy and artistic expertise to the Piano studio within the Fine Arts department. Other responsibilities and necessary competencies include:
- Demonstrating best pedagogy in teaching piano
- Exhibiting excellent teaching skills and a willingness to teach piano to students in first through twelfth grades
- Working effectively with students of different artistic abilities
- Understanding the development of students and possessing a passion for working with a wide variety of ages
- Interacting effectively with parents, colleagues, and members of the administration, to include:
- Work with private lessons coordinator and ensemble directors to establish a schedule for lessons for the year.
- Communicate with parents to provide expectations, feedback and curriculum for lesson and performance(s)
- Participate in writing comments for parents twice a year, and nurturing students toward recital performance
- Opportunities to collaborate with other colleagues as a member of the pit for musical performances
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance or Music Education required; master’s degree highly desirable; previous experience teaching private lessons required.
Compensation: Private lessons are a fee-based opportunity for our families, and compensation is based on the number of students taught per week. A schedule of payments is available for considered candidates. This part-time position is not eligible for benefits.
