Physical Designer (Brand Experience)
Reports to: Director of Exhibit Design

Summary

Luci Creative is seeking a thoughtful and agile Physical Designer to help imagine and execute branded physical experiences that connect people to ideas, stories, and one another. In this role, you'll bring a spatial designer's sensibility together with a deep curiosity about human behavior—crafting environments that not only look great but invite action, reflection, participation, and play. From immersive brand activations to more traditional exhibit-based storytelling, this role sits at the intersection of space, story, and strategy.

While this particular position is rooted in brand experience, it will also flex across Luci's broader portfolio—including museum and cultural projects. The ideal candidate is just as comfortable sketching spatial concepts as they are brainstorming interactive moments, supporting event programming, or collaborating on design strategies. They're a great communicator, a fast collaborator, and ready to hop on a plane when needed.

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity for a physical designer who wants to stretch creatively—someone who understands that spaces can spark emotions, shape behaviors, and strengthen brands. You'll help translate brand values and audience insights into rich, tangible experiences—and learn from a team that values storytelling, experimentation, and cross-disciplinary design. You'll collaborate across disciplines, travel frequently, and see your ideas come to life in real, meaningful environments.

Essential Job Functions

Concept & Design

Design spatial experiences that bring brand stories to life—through layout, materials, integrated media, and thoughtful programming.

Contribute to experience concepts from early ideation through refinement, with an eye toward how environments support interaction, emotion, and engagement.

Help envision how a space performs: how people move, gather, linger, or learn—and how design enables that behavior.

Create sketches, diagrams, renderings, and presentations that communicate ideas clearly and inspire clients and collaborators.

Cross-Project Versatility

Contribute to both branded environments and cultural projects, bringing a consistent eye for experience and clarity of design thinking.

On museum or exhibit-based projects, support layout development, artifact integration, ADA/fire code considerations, and cross-disciplinary coordination.

Collaboration & Presentation

Collaborate with graphic designers, media teams, strategists, and content developers to bring holistic experiences to life.

Present work to clients and stakeholders with confidence and clarity—helping them understand spatial concepts, options, and implications.

Maintain active communication with project leads and Creative Directors to ensure alignment, momentum, and quality.

Qualifications

4–6 years of experience in experiential design, exhibit design, branded environments, interior architecture, or related disciplines.

Training in architecture, interior design, industrial design, environmental design, or related field.

Strong spatial thinking and an ability to connect environment, content, and interaction.

Proficient in design tools such as Rhino, SketchUp, VectorWorks, Adobe Creative Suite; comfort with media integration is a plus.

Clear, concise communicator—comfortable presenting to clients and collaborating across disciplines.

Knowledge of ADA/accessibility and safety codes, and an appreciation of the best practices of Universal Design.

Able to thrive in ambiguity and shift between creative, strategic, and practical modes of thinking.

Enthusiastic about travel, with availability for extended or international trips depending on project needs.

Work Environment & Travel Expectations

This role operates in a hybrid or flexible studio/remote environment, with frequent travel required for on-site collaboration, installations, or research. International travel may be necessary depending on the nature of the project. Travel rhythm may be intensive at times and lighter during other phases.
