The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is an essential part of the Human Resource team and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the payroll and benefits administration processes. Working closely with the HR team, you will also help to manage the HR inbox, maintain employee information and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and process bi-weekly payrolls for 200 employees
- Monitor and support the payroll company in setting up and maintaining all payroll configurations, pay types, deductions, and taxes
- Assist the payroll company with year-end review, reconciliation of payroll information, W-2s and W-4s for state and federal filings
- Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans, including health, dental, vision, 401k, paid time off
- Manages the benefits open enrollment process
- Administer employee benefits including, but not limited to, COBRA, FMLA and Disability Leave
- Support the selection, coordination, and set up of benefit plans
- Coordinate with vendors for effective payroll and benefits administration
- Stay current on HR laws and regulations, providing guidance to ensure compliance
- Ensure accurate 401k deductions, loans, reporting, and payments
- Distributes and monitors employee performance evaluations and ensures they are done in a timely manner
- Implement necessary changes in processes and procedures to align with legal requirements
- Provide clear and concise communication to both hourly and management team members regarding payroll and benefits inquiries
- Process all Bureau of Workers Compensation claims and processes
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of U.S. state and federal wage and labor laws (EEOC, compensation FLMA, etc.), regulations, rules, policies, and procedures required
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Exceptionally friendly, enthusiastic and optimistic about working with a growing organization of hard-working professionals
- Incredible attention to detail — you value accuracy over speed, but can easily do both
- Able to gracefully multitask, meet deadlines and provide continuous curiosity on how you can contribute more

Required Education and Experience
- Associate degree or the equivalent years of experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance or related field
- 2 years’ experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs
- Paycor and ADP software experience
