What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Services Technician position at RAWLINS COUNTY HEALTH CENTER?
Summary:
The EVS Tech maintains environmental and infection control standards within the health care center's established policies and procedures. The position performs various general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas of the facility. The position follows standard practices and procedures and complies with regulatory requirements.
Level I – Vacuuming, Sweeping, Mopping, Cleaning Non-Patient Care Areas, Laundry, Prairie Plaza, No Call
Level II – Cleaning patient Care Areas, i.e., Clinic Exam Rooms, inpatient rooms, and ER. On Call, and all Level I duties
Level III – Pre/Post OR Cleaning, On Call, and all Level I and II duties
Essential Functions:
- Able to accept and perform duties of being on-call.
- Required to wear scrubs as per dress code policy.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Compliance Program presented to you at the time of hire.
- Adhere to all facilities policies and procedures and HIPAA Compliance
- Help RCHC achieve its vision: “To set the standards of patient-centered quality healthcare.”
- Must be able to work a standard work week, based on 36 36-hour minimum work week and on-call rotation—the ability to lift to 50 lbs. as the situation requires.
- Must operate a vacuum, carpet extractor, and general cleaning equipment.
- Exposure to patient elements, chemicals, and other elements.

Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education: A high school diploma or equivalent with previous housekeeping experience in healthcare is preferred.
Minimum Experience: On-the-job training available to the right candidate.
Certifications/Licensures: Have and maintain a valid driver’s license to be added to RCHC’s insurance policy.
Working Environment: The candidate must have good physical dexterity and mobility, including excessive bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and lifting (e.g., moving furniture, cleaning patient beds, cleaning hard-to-reach areas, and loading/unloading laundry).
