Gateway SRA is looking for warm, enthusiastic, and patient individuals interested in being an Activities Coordinator for children with special needs. Activity coordinators are individuals looking to develop career-building skills such as leadership, organization, planning, communication, problem-solving and relationship management abilities. A.C. develop and assist in the implementation of the curriculum for the day-to-day activities. These individuals plan weekly themes curated around campers with special needs. Creativity, flexibility, and knowledge of resources are a must in the development of activities. Duties :
- Leading and planning :
- Planning and implementing diverse activities for daily and weekly schedule like arts and crafts, sports, swimming, outdoor games, nature exploration, and themed programs based on age-appropriate interests with focus on fostering independent play, sensory play, group games and outdoor activities
- Planning activities, managing supplies, and maintaining a structured schedule
- Confidence in leading groups, motivating children, and making quick decisions
- Supervision and safety :
- Actively monitoring campers during all activities including mealtimes, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and responding to any accidents or emergencies.
- Group management :
- Maintaining order and positive group dynamics, resolving minor conflicts, and providing guidance to campers.
- Communication :
- Regularly updating Site Supervisor on camper progress, addressing concerns, and maintaining open communication.
- Recordkeeping :
- Maintaining attendance logs, activity reports, and documenting incidents and behaviors
- Staff collaboration :
- Working effectively with other counselors and camp staff to deliver a cohesive program and a positive and inclusive camp environment
