Ray Quinney & Nebeker of Provo, UT is looking to hire a part-time Legal Assistant to support the personal injury and litigation attorneys in our Provo, office. The position enhances the effectiveness of our litigation attorneys by performing a variety of duties such as drafting and formatting letters, briefs, pleadings and other legal documents; managing calendars for meetings, depositions; making travel arrangements; and being familiar with court process and procedures while filing court documents through State and Federal electronic filing systems.
This Legal Assistant position is part-time, in-office, with the flexibility to work 25-30 hours per week, during regular business hours and includes paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays. If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, apply today!
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Ordering and tracking of medical and billing records requests
- Basic litigation case management and budget tracking
- Process State and Federal electronic court filings
- Perform administrative duties such as making copies, scanning, answering phone calls
- Coordinate and manage calendars for meetings, case deadlines, depositions, court hearings and travel arrangements
- Onboarding of new clients, including performing and clearing conflicts checks, preparing engagement letters, file opening and set up
- Drafting and/or formatting legal briefs, pleadings and correspondence
- Deposition scheduling, tracking and assistance.
- Maintain both electronic and physical files containing legal documentation and correspondence in strict confidence
- Communicate with clients, courts, outside counsel, various governmental offices, insurance companies and medical facilities
- Tracking CLE compliance and preparing and providing CLE reports to various state bars
- Participate in document signings as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe
- Proficient in State and Federal electronic court filings
- Proficient knowledge regarding Utah State and Federal civil procedure
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to take direction and work independently with little or no supervision
- Ability to keep and maintain confidential information regarding clients and firm issues
- An ability to quickly grasp firm specific software
- Proficient typist
Qualifications
- 3 years' working experience as a litigation legal assistant
- Experience in plaintiff's side personal injury litigation
- Utah Notary, or the ability to become one immediately after hire.
