Job Overview :

A highly respected boutique law firm in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a highly motivated junior, mid, or senior-level associate to join its esteemed trusts, estates, and tax practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with a strong desire for career growth and advancement in the field. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in estate planning, estate administration, and trust administration.

Responsibilities :

As a member of this dynamic team, the associate will be expected to take on a variety of responsibilities, including :

  • Estate Planning : Work directly with clients to develop comprehensive estate plans, including drafting essential legal documents such as wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
  • Estate and Trust Administration : Manage the administration of estates and trusts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Client Interaction : Have extensive direct contact with high-net-worth individuals and families, providing tailored legal solutions and handling complex estate planning matters.
  • Drafting Documents : Prepare and review estate planning documents, ensuring they reflect the specific needs and wishes of clients.
  • Research and Writing : Conduct detailed legal research related to tax laws, estate and gift planning, and trust administration, while consistently producing clear and concise written materials.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with other team members to address intricate estate, tax, and trust issues. Be proactive in taking on new tasks while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications :

  • Required Experience : At least two years of experience in estate planning, estate administration, and trust administration.
  • Desired Skills : Candidates should have excellent research, writing, and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a team are essential.
  • Specialization in High-Net-Worth Planning : Experience with high-net-worth individuals and families, trust and estate administration, and estate, gift, and GST tax planning is preferred.
  • Educational Background : An LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning, or a law degree from a top-tier law school, is preferred, particularly for candidates who may not have direct experience with high-net-worth individuals. Candidates who graduated in the top quartile of their class will be highly regarded.
  • Business and Marital Planning : Experience in business and marital planning is a plus.
  • Bar Admission : Virginia Bar admission or eligibility is required.
