About the Role :
We are hiring a Building Code Consultant to support our direct client in reviewing project plans and ensuring compliance with local, state, and national building codes. This fully remote role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with expertise in building regulations, construction standards, and code interpretation. The Building Code Consultant will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and municipal authorities to identify compliance issues, recommend solutions, and facilitate the permitting process.
Conduct comprehensive reviews of architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans to ensure adherence to building codes and regulations.
Interpret and apply relevant building codes such as the International Building Code (IBC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other state / local regulations .
Identify potential compliance issues and provide solutions to address them.
Advise on fire safety, zoning regulations, accessibility, energy codes, and environmental standards.
Collaboration & Client Support :
Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and developers to resolve code-related challenges.
Provide technical guidance and clarification on building codes throughout the design and construction phases.
Assist clients in navigating the permit approval process by ensuring all documentation meets jurisdictional requirements.
Communicate findings and recommendations through written reports and virtual meetings.
Regulatory Updates & Best Practices :
Stay updated on changes in building codes, construction laws, and industry best practices .
Ensure clients are aware of new regulations and amendments that may impact project approvals.
Develop internal guidelines and compliance checklists to streamline code review processes.
