Position Overview
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing electrical systems for a variety of projects, including commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, and multifamily developments. This role requires technical expertise, strong coordination skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a project team. As an integral part of the team, the Electrical Engineer will manage project requirements, ensure compliance with codes and standards, and deliver quality results.
Key Responsibilities
- Design systems including AC power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and other building support systems.
- Oversee and review work completed by Electrical Designers assigned to the project.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, code officials, utility companies, project managers, and other team members to meet technical project requirements.
- Perform necessary calculations for photometrics, voltage drop, fault current, and other electrical quantities.
- Develop designs for power distribution, including panelboards, switchboards, transformers, and overcurrent protection.
- Conduct both interior and exterior lighting designs using software tools like ElumTools or Lithonia Visual.
- Perform energy code compliance analyses and fire alarm designs.
- Manage construction administration tasks, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and conducting site inspections.
Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, and/or multifamily projects.
- Professional Engineering license with eligibility for multistate licensure.
- Proficiency in applicable codes, including NEC, NFPA 101, and NFPA 72, along with experience in using CSI MasterFormat for specifications.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead electrical design for projects and participate independently in project meetings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, with additional experience in SKM or similar electrical modeling software preferred.
- AutoCAD and Revit MEP experience are highly desirable.
