About the Role
We are seeking a GIS Project Manager to lead and coordinate geospatial projects across various industries, including environmental management, urban planning, infrastructure development, and disaster response. The ideal candidate will have experience managing GIS teams, overseeing project lifecycles, and ensuring the successful delivery of mapping and spatial analysis solutions.
This role requires technical expertise in GIS software, data analytics, and geospatial modeling, along with strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. The GIS Project Manager will play a critical role in bridging the gap between GIS specialists, engineers, planners, and decision-makers.
Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Execution
- Lead GIS project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery.
- Define project scopes, objectives, and deliverables based on client and stakeholder requirements.
- Develop and manage project timelines, ensuring milestones are met.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including GIS analysts, developers, data scientists, and engineers.
GIS & Geospatial Data Management
Oversee the collection, processing, and integration of geospatial data from multiple sources (satellite imagery, LiDAR, UAVs, field surveys, etc.).Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across GIS databases and applications.Implement GIS-based workflows, automation scripts, and spatial analysis techniques.Manage GIS tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Engine, PostGIS, and other geospatial platforms.Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, government agencies, and project partners.Conduct meetings, presentations, and progress updates to communicate findings and project status.Develop technical reports, maps, dashboards, and interactive visualizations for stakeholders.Ensure project compliance with industry regulations, environmental policies, and government standards.Team Leadership & Process Improvement
Mentor and supervise GIS analysts, technicians, and field teams to enhance productivity.Identify opportunities to implement emerging GIS technologies, AI-driven geospatial analysis, and cloud-based solutions.Develop and enforce best practices for GIS data management, security, and quality control.Optimize workflows to improve data processing, map production, and geospatial analytics.Key Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in GIS, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or related field.5 years of experience in GIS project management, spatial analysis, or remote sensing.Strong knowledge of ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS, Google Earth Engine, and other GIS tools.Experience working with geospatial databases, web GIS applications, and cloud GIS platforms.Proven ability to manage multiple GIS projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.Familiarity with Python, SQL, R, or JavaScript for GIS automation and analysis is a plus.Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.Ability to collaborate with stakeholders from government agencies, engineering firms, environmental organizations, and private enterprises.Preferred Qualifications
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.Experience with AI / ML integration in geospatial analytics.Knowledge of geospatial applications in urban planning, disaster response, and climate modeling.Experience with geospatial cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
