Position Purpose :
The HVAC Service Technician will specialize in the start-up, troubleshooting, and repair of complex HVAC systems, including Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems, dedicated outside air units, boilers, computer room units, and more.
Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing commercial HVAC systems, ensuring safe operations, and providing training when necessary.
Key Responsibilities :
- Diagnose and repair HVAC equipment associated with commercial systems like air handlers, chillers, boilers, and pumps.
- Install, evacuate, and charge refrigerant systems.
- Use instruments to measure temperature, humidity, static pressure, voltage, amperage, and airflow.
- Understand and troubleshoot control systems, wiring, and end devices.
- Present training materials to clients and contractors effectively.
- Document service activities through work orders, maintenance checklists, and time sheets.
- Maintain customer relationships by addressing complaints and identifying solutions.
- Stay current on HVAC system operations, maintenance, and repairs.
- Manage parts inventory and prioritize repair requirements independently.
- Flexibility to work outside regular hours, if needed.
Qualifications :
- Associate degree or certificate in HVAC from a Technical / Trade School, plus 2 years of relevant experience; or 5 years of HVAC-related experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and handheld devices (e.g., smartphones, iPads).
- Valid driver's license with no major traffic violations in the past five years.
- EPA certification is required.
- Must pass a TAPS background check.
Physical Requirements :
- Routine sitting, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, and kneeling.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights as needed.
