What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Rayburn Electric?
Performs complex Rayburn Country Electric Cooperative, Inc.’s (Rayburn) accounting activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and verifying financial transactions. Generates complete and accurate posting of entries.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities / Knowledge· Prepare general ledger entries and review for Rayburn, including but not limited to cash, fixed assets, capital projects, AP and AR.
· Review dockets and court filings to ensure rates are current for Transmission Cost of Service (TCOS)
· Support month end and year end accounting close.
· Performs and reviews general ledger account reconciliations for assigned accounts.
· Provides day-to-day support and is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) related to current accounting software functionality for specific areas of responsibility.
· Communicates and collaborates cross-departmentally to ensure a timely month-end close process.
· Prepares reports and analysis to support management or business requirements.
· Prepares financial and month-end reports including combined member financial statements, consolidated and consolidating financial statements for Rayburn, financial metrics and variance analysis.
· Provides income tax reporting information to tax preparer.
· Provides back-up for other accountants and the processing and posting of AP/AR Invoices with proper approvals.
· May be required to process payroll and update employee records.
· Assists management as needed.

· Shares information with Rayburn management and staff, contractors, and other third parties in a timely manner, as required.
· Delegates jobs and tasks to appropriate employees, providing complete information and resources to properly complete such jobs and tasks.
· Provides Rayburn management with updates and/or reports on work and tasks as requested or required.
· Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or executive management.
Job Specifications / Skills Required
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or related field of study is required.
Experience:
5 years accounting experience, utility accounting experience helpful.
Skills:
· Proficient in Microsoft Office
· Excellent Excel skills
· Ability to think independently and problem solve
· Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy and confidentiality
· Excellent organizational skills
· Able to work effectively in a team environment; willing to assist others
Physical Demands
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a computer workstation.
