Job Overview
Raycap, Inc. is currently recruiting for a skilled Senior Buyer at our Charleston, SC. location. This position reports to the Chief Supply Chain & Sustainability Officer and is responsible for performing complex planning and procurement of various commodities using a mainframe MRP system.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Plan, purchase, expedite and negotiate materials in support of production schedules and capital/MRO materials and services.
- Maintain MRP system data and its integrity.
- Negotiate, review, and administer contracts for assigned commodities.
- Source, evaluate and establish new suppliers and materials in conjunction with Quality Assurance and Engineering departments in support of company goals and objectives.
- Interact with suppliers to ensure correct parts are delivered on-time, at the quoted pricing and quantity.
- Engage in price/term negotiations to mitigate cost increases and obtain cost savings.
- Develop and implement programs with suppliers and internal cross functional team members that address lead time reduction, order fill rate performance, quality performance, cost reduction and technical improvements.
- Evaluate and maintain the material requirements plan for assigned commodities and ensure systems validity and integrity by inputting and adjusting records according to company and/or department guidelines.
- Compile data, prepare and analyze reports as requested and required by Purchasing Department and Manager.
- Prepare quotes for new customer assembly builds and existing business.
- Generate and adjust purchase orders in support of ERP/MRP requirements and effectively communicating areas of concern and escalations to appropriate purchasing individuals, departments, and suppliers.
- Attend meetings as needed to support cross functional team objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
- 5-10 years broad purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures including MRP/ERP, First Article, RMA, Drawings/Specifications, Expedites and Cancellations.
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office; knowledge of SAP and/or MRP based systems.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles, good oral and written skills.
- Ability to work in and be flexible in a fast-paced growth environment.
- International exposure a plus.
