What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Laborer/Grinder position at Raycap Inc?
Raycap, Inc., an industry leader in manufacturing solutions for telecommunications, renewable energy, transportation, defense, and other applications, is currently looking for a second-shift Welder in our Kearny, NJ facility. This is a fast-paced position in a metal manufacturing environment.
The Grinder/Metal Finisher will operate grinding equipment to finish grind welds and to remove sharp burrs and edges of metal parts to customer expectations.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Performs repetitive deburring operations by removing excess metal and surface defects from parts by polishing, grinding, and cleaning per customer specifications
- Requires the ability to use common hand tools such as: orbital sanders, right angle die grinder, and 4 1/2" grinder
- Ensures work areas are clean and clear of debris and scrap material, placed in proper receptacles
- Assists with general production labor needs such as:
- Punching cut parts out of sheet metal
- Placing and organizing punch parts onto pallets
- Moving material using pallet jack and/or forklift to appropriate work areas
- Operating the PEM inserter machine
- All other duties as assigned
- Has the obligation to be aware of and comply with environmental, and safety policies and regulations and always endures duties of high-quality standards
Job Requirements:
- Ability to work effectively with limited to no supervision
- Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to communicate verbally
- Excellent time management skills
- Willingness to adapt and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Physical Demands:
- Ability to Lift up to 50 lbs
- Stand and Bend frequently without issue
- Ability to work in non-climate controlled production environment
Hours: Second shift (3:30PM-12:00AM)
This job requires occasional overtime, which may change to meet our business's needs.
Break/Lunch: 30 minutes lunch, plus two 15-minute breaks, to be determined by the manager.
Union: IBEW Local Union 3 with a 45-day probationary period.

- Medical/Dental/Vision/HRA/Annuity – 6 months from the hire date.
- Vacation Time – will begin effective June 30th, after 6 months of continuous employment.
- Sick Time – will begin after 1 year of continuous employment.
- Mandatory Union Dues - $7/week, $28/month.
- Mandatory One Time $182 Union application fee.
- 12 Paid holidays.
