Manage staff in an assigned area to include planning and assigning projects/tasks to staff, making hiring, separation, and disciplinary recommendations, and conducting performance evaluations.
Ensure staff development and coordinate training programs for new staff and identify training needs for current staff.
Provide leadership for assigned staff and manage employees’ timecards utilizing the company’s Time and Attendance system.
Manage the operational activities within the logistics Manager by engaging with internal customers and gaining an understanding of their current and future needs.
Develop, organize, and implement department programs, policies, and procedures.
Responsible for leading and shaping the customer-facing strategy for the team.
Ensure achievement of logistics and operational goals are being met.
Communicate department goals with staff to support the company’s long-term strategy and vision.
The Manager will collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams and identify and prioritize initiatives to optimize capabilities and develop operational management practices for the department.
Provide input to senior leadership for annual budgets.
Prepare reports for the department’s senior leadership
Drive communication between the logistics teams and corresponding departments (sales, coordinators, and freight dispatchers) to ensure communication is fluid and enables on-time deliveries.
Ensure logistics team members are following all Company Policies
Select and manage long-term relationships with service providers such as “Long haul freight brokers, LTL freight brokers, and Local 3 rd party carriers”
Communicate with all levels of employees, customers, and Manufacturers both verbally and in writing.
The manager will respond to all inquiries promptly and p romote good working relationships with customers, vendors, and the workforce.
Determine optimal supply chain execution through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Demonstrate initiative to ensure alignment of policies and resolutions on administrative and operational issues are being addressed.
Maintain a professional attitude in all matters and develop standards, metrics, and procedures that maximize operational efficiency.
Create and standardize a comprehensive department data analysis plan to include, budgeting, planning, fulfillment, finance, and transportation goals.
Mitigate and manage risks associated with the department’s goals.
Analyze the team’s performance by reviewing key metrics and identify areas for improvement while managing time efficiently.
Assess different programs that are cost-effective to provide a better understanding of how current priorities impact performance.
Must understand and follow schedules, work plans, and performance requirements and stay within budget.
Identify gaps within the department and develop plans to close them as necessary (training, lean, capacity, headcount, external logistics support).
Implement short-term problem containment and long-term corrective actions for distribution issues and ensure continuous improvement related to systems and processes is always at the forefront of the department.
Create and maintain a culture of safety.
Develop mentor and train new hires and ensure development opportunities are available during onboarding.
Implement weekly one-on-one meetings with assigned staff.
Create and implement a plan to track requirements and maintain a compliance list for Class A Drivers.
Manage Driver Accident reporting system by processing all claims, investigating root cause analysis, and creating compliance reports.
Responsible for maintaining transportation systems and logistics activities; including warehouse management software, transportation management software, On Board Tractor computer and supporting software as well as dispatch software.
Outline team objectives and focus on generating innovative solutions to critical business problems.
Provides advanced expertise and knowledge in complex areas of specialization.
Be accountable for warehouse, transportation, and logistics operations.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, legal, and company policies are being met.
Establish a business continuity plan for logistics operations.
Supervise and provide guidance for teams that are transporting, delivering, and picking up equipment.
Serve as the primary point of contact for personnel-related issues, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Enforce policies and procedures related to inventory tracking and equipment management.
Maintain accurate records of damaged and worn-out equipment.
Represent the team in management presentations and interdepartmental meetings.
Oversee quality standard procedures, including the safe handling of materials.

Experience in negotiating with vendors, including negotiating contracts, prices, and reconciling differences.
Experience with logistics, and private fleets in multi-stop environments, including forecasting business models using product volume, weights, costs, and forecasting equipment and staffing.
Must have strong knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance.
Experience managing P & L statements, with the ability to meet required financial KPIs while delivering a high level of customer service.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated in-depth understanding of logistics principles, concepts, regulations, and practices.
Ability to resolve complex management and technical problems.

Education/Experience:

5 years of experience in a matrixed organization, with experience identifying, managing, and solving complex problems.
Accepted experience: 5 years of experience in materials lifecycle management, supply chain management, inventory management, operations, manufacturing, or other work in the areas.
Accepted experience: 5 years of experience managing distribution operations in a manufacturing environment.
Travel Requirement:
10% quarterly – Company branch visits and manager/training conferences
