This Process Engineer Lead role is an opportunity to build, lead, and manage a team of engineering professionals supporting various water and wastewater projects. As part of a multi-discipline team, this position focuses on process design and management for diverse, high-volume plant projects, encompassing the design, implementation, and optimization of water and wastewater treatment processes. The role includes client engagement, team mentorship, and active participation in business development initiatives.
Responsibilities : Project Leadership
Lead projects from conceptual planning to bid-ready documents, including facility layouts, design calculations, equipment vendor coordination, and quality assurance.
Evaluate and design process equipment for water and wastewater treatment plants and facilities.
Technical Design
Develop conceptual and detailed designs, including plans and specifications for treatment systems.
Prepare design calculations, cost estimates, and coordinate with regulatory agencies and multi-disciplinary teams.
Team & Client Engagement
Mentor and manage team members while overseeing schedules, budgets, and quality assurance.
Participate in client meetings, industry conferences, and serve as a subject matter expert.
Strategic Contributions
Recruit and develop top talent for the team.
Plan and manage workload distribution and ensure efficient delivery of quality work products.
Drive standardization in process design and tools.
Travel
Engage in occasional travel for business development, client meetings, site assessments, workshops, and design reviews.
Requirements :
Masters Degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure.
10 years of municipal water / wastewater process design experience, with 2 years in project leadership.
Proficiency in process modeling software (Hydromantis GPS-X, Dynamita Sumo, and / or EnviroSim BioWin).
Preferred Qualifications :
PE licensure in multiple states (e.g., SC, NC, GA, FL, TN).
15 years of process design experience and 5 years leading design projects.
Expertise in process equipment evaluation, hydraulic modeling, and cost estimation.
Familiarity with Bluebeam, MS Office products, AutoCAD, and / or Revit.
Active involvement in water / wastewater organizations such as AWWA or WEF.
Experience giving presentations to clients and industry groups.
