Raymore-Peculiar School District is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Elementary School Counselor to join our dynamic team for the 2025-2026 school year ! Our ideal candidate will work closely with students, teachers, and families to promote the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our young learners. This role involves providing individual and group counseling, developing school-wide programs, and collaborating with staff and parents to foster a positive and inclusive school environment.The qualified candidate should hold valid Missouri Certificate for K-5 Counselor or eligibility to secure a provisional certification based on current enrollment in a university program.
Key Responsibilities :
- C onduct individual and group counseling sessions for students to address social, emotional, behavioral, and academic concerns.
- Design and deliver programs that promote mental health, social-emotional learning, and positive behavior across the school community.
- Guide students in developing healthy coping strategies, problem-solving skills, self-awareness, and resilience.
- Work closely with classroom teachers and school staff to identify student needs, provide classroom support, and share strategies to foster a supportive learning environment.
- Engage with parents / guardians to address student concerns, provide resources, and strengthen the home-school partnership in supporting student well-being.
- Respond to urgent situations as they arise, providing immediate support to students and collaborating with appropriate personnel for crisis management.
- Keep accurate and confidential records of student counseling sessions, evaluations, and progress.
- Connect students and families with external support services when additional help is needed.
- Collaborate in school committees and attend staff meetings, contributing to a supportive and cohesive school community.
