Manager, eLearning Instructional & Digital Designer

We are seeking a creative and tech-savvy eLearning Instructional & Digital Designer to design engaging learning experiences and develop digital content that enhances storytelling within our Global Learning & Development (L&D) initiatives. This role is a blend of instructional design, digital design, and multimedia learning content creation—ensuring training solutions are not only effective but also visually compelling and easy to navigate. The candidate will deploy creative expertise to bring instructional learning design, digital design, and technology together to enhance learning and development for RTX’s global workforce.

This position reports to the Director, L&D Infrastructure and works closely with corporate and business unit talent and L&D partners to achieve organizational objectives.

What You Will Do

• Design and develop engaging ILT and eLearning courses, microlearning modules, and interactive training materials.
• Apply instructional design principles (e.g., ADDIE) to create impactful learning experiences.
• Develop modules, assessments, simulations, videos and scenario-based learning activities.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate complex content into clear, effective learning solutions.
• Design and structure compelling learning landing pages for programs and initiatives that serve as the gateway to the learning content and training programs, ensuring they are intuitive, visually engaging, and aligned with organizational learning goals.
• Develop storytelling-driven web experiences that provide clear learning paths to information, offerings and suites of content, using interactive elements, multimedia, and dynamic content to enhance engagement.
• Organize content for clarity and impact, ensuring users can easily navigate training materials, upcoming courses, resources.
• Create branded digital learning hubs that reinforce the company’s L&D vision and encourage ongoing learning.
• Leverage data-driven UX design to optimize page layouts, calls to action, and user flows that increase participation in learning programs.
• Utilize eLearning development tools like Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms.
• Use design tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), and Figma for UI/UX design.
• Work with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Sharepoint and other web applications.
• Integrate interactive elements (e.g., gamification, video, quizzes, and simulations) to enhance engagement.

Qualifications You Must Have

• University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum of 5 years experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.
• Demonstrated mastery in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Web Design, Graphic Design, or related field.
• 3 years of experience in instructional design, web design, or multimedia content development.
• Strong instructional design expertise with experience in eLearning course creation.
• Proficiency in web design (WordPress, Webflow, or similar platforms).
• Ability to create compelling digital media (graphics, animations, video) to be utilized by various audiences.
• Strong project management skills—able to juggle multiple design and development projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Familiarity with SCORM, xAPI, knowledge of UX/UI and LMS integration.
• Familiarity with Workday and Workday Learning.

Location

• This position can be worked remotely in the U.S.

• Must have ability for at least part of the work day to overlap with U.S. Eastern Time Zone.

• Preferred: Hybrid attendance to a major RTX location.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
