Job Summary:
A Quality Tech will be responsible for performing standardized quality checks on our company products to ensure they meet the required company standards for quality. The Quality Tech may also be required to maintain calibrated test equipment, prepare test data, and identify areas for quality control improvement.
To ensure success as a quality technician, one should have a strong working knowledge of mathematical concepts, excellent visual awareness, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. A quality technician can efficiently monitor the integrity and quality of products without impeding production rates.
Responsibilities:
- Collect retain samples, prepare samples, and perform testing of products.
- Data entry of test results, filing, and maintenance of the retain library.
- Communicate quality pass down information by completing daily written shift reports and by verbally exchanging shift information between quality technicians, as well as with the Quality Manager.
- Complete paperwork, forms, and reports as required.
- Provide shop floor quality support and act as a quality resource for material evaluation, production Run Standards, and finished product specification interpretation questions related to manufacturing and quality.
- Create, maintain, and/or revise specialized quality documentation. (e.g., procedures, work instructions, etc.)
- Participate in both internal and external audits such as ISO and SQF to verify conformance of activities to quality assurance standards.
- Perform on-the-line audits and spot-checking implementation of ERP data entry, operator testing, and run log documentation by production operators.
- Prepare and/or review First Article Inspection (FAI) reports for submittal to the customer, utilizing web-based customer applications in addition to Excel
- Assist in the investigation, creation, segregation, and of disposition of nonconforming product and the development of rework order within internal and customer systems.
- Enter data into the NCM database to create Non-Conforming Material Reports, apply NCM placards, and ensure non-conforming product is properly segregated at the time of the event.
- Assist with and / or administer the Employee Training and related aspects of On-the-Job Training (OJT).
- Assist with the Investigation, Root Cause, and Corrective and Preventive Action process for both audit findings, non-conformance events, and customer complaints.
- Assist in identifying continuous improvement opportunities and implementing improvements to the quality system
- Prepare reports on Quality SharePoint site.
- Prepare Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Certificate of Conformance documentation per customer requirements.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of customer specifications, industry standards, and quality systems standards
- Assist with Supplier Quality as applicable. Collect samples of supplier defective material to issue SCARs as necessary.
- Assist with all aspects of gage management and calibration
- Assist with quality reviews on production floor as needed (e.g., calibration and process records)
- Conduct Good Manufacturing Inspections and audits of the facility in support of the SQF program.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices, lab procedures, and assist with maintenance of the lab equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
SQF responsibilities: Must be trained and competent in Rayven’s GMP’s, SSOP’s, Work Instructions, Procedures and Test Methods that relate to their position as documented in Rayven’s Employee Competency matrix and training log.
Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, writing and communication skills
- Working knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) requirements (Especially as it applies to Nonconforming Material and Corrective and Preventive Action)
- Quick study, strong initiative (creative thinking and project implementation)
- Standard manufacturing process knowledge
- Experience with disposition of nonconforming material
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self-directed, independent, and highly motivated
Education and Experience
- Associates degree or 2 years of experience in a related manufacturing or quality position.
- Working knowledge in reading and interpreting drawings, technical specifications, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of a wide variety of inspection and test equipment, and methodologies.
- Experience with computer-based applications (MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel)
- Read, write, speak English
- Legal authorization to work in the US
Physical and Travel Requirements
- Expected Hours of Work: 48 with the understanding that additional hours per day may be needed as to projects or demands OT may be required
