Job Summary:
The Compliance Officer ensures that the inpatient substance abuse and co-occurring residential treatment facility adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations, accreditation standards, and internal policies. This full-time, on-site position requires ongoing monitoring, policy enforcement, staff training, and risk management to maintain compliance in a 24/7 residential treatment setting. The Compliance Officer plays a critical role in protecting patient safety, confidentiality, and quality of care while reducing legal and regulatory risks. Receive complaints and grievances directly from clients and/or family & concerned individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance & Policy Implementation: Ensure compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, state licensing regulations, rules, and accreditation standards.
- Audits, Risk Management & Quality Assurance: Conduct internal audits, prepare for external audits, identify risks, and implement corrective action plans.
- Staff Training & Education: Provide on-site training to staff on confidentiality, patient rights, ethics, documentation standards, and emergency response.
- Incident Reporting & Investigations: Oversee incident reporting procedures, conduct investigations, and ensure proper documentation.
- Accreditation & Licensing Support: Maintain facility accreditation and assist with licensing renewals and inspections.
- Collaboration with Leadership & Continuous Improvement: Work closely with clinical directors, medical staff, and executive leadership to ensure compliance and improve quality of care.
- Investigation and reporting to State, grievances from complainants, as necessary.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, social work, public health, behavioral health, business, or a related field.
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or regulatory affairs in a healthcare, inpatient, or residential substance abuse setting.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, Medicaid/Medicare rules, and state licensing requirements for residential treatment programs.
- Experience with accreditation processes (CARF, Joint Commission, or similar organizations).
- Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Risk Compliance Professional (CRCP).

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
