Job Description

Job Title: Respiratory Care Practitioner NICU

Job Summary:

As a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you will be responsible for providing specialized respiratory care to premature and critically ill infants. You will work closely with the NICU team to assess, diagnose, and treat respiratory conditions and emergencies in newborns, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Administer respiratory therapies and treatments to NICU patients, including oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and mechanical ventilation.
• Monitor and evaluate respiratory status of infants in the NICU, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed.
• Educate NICU staff and parents on respiratory care procedures and technologies.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for NICU patients.
• Respond to respiratory emergencies in the NICU and provide rapid intervention and support.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
• Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a NICU setting.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
